Support » Plugin: NextGEN Gallery - WordPress Gallery Plugin » Resizing upon uploading (Nextgen&Imsanity) not working?

  • Resolved ra_ra

I’ve just installed Nexgen Gallery to make/put galleries on posts/pages.

I was also introduced to this plugin called Imsanity which is supposed to re-size the images upon uploading to a set size to save data space and be viewer friendly.

I’ve set the Imsanity set-up as max 640×480 as a test, but when I upload images from my computer via Nexgen, the images uploads as is, eg. 2796x1954px.(1MB)

So just wondering if using Nextgen sort of cancel out the set up of Imsanity (and that Imsanity only works when you upload images using Media uploads on dashboard or straight onto posts/pages, perhaps?), and if so, do I need to re-size myself before I upload via nextgen?

Or is it possible to bring images over to nextgen once it is uploaded to Media already resized? (I can only see the ways to upload images directly into nextgen galleries/albums and not via Media).

Hope this question makes sense and someone can give me some advice.

  • Bump for this as I’d also like this feature. I use Imsanity all the time to save on file size, and would like to work with Nextgen, or better still for nextgen to be able to do this.

Actually, you can do this already in NextGen, in “Other Options”.

Set “Automatically resize images after upload” to Yes, choose the sizes below (I use 1024×1024, same as Imsanity), and then set “Backup the original images?” to No to delete the larger files off the server.

    Works perfectly.
