Support » Plugin: Imsanity » Resizing and crop the images

  • I would like to use this plugin, but I would like to know first if it is able to resize my picture to match the 3 defined by me sizes?
It is for uploading my product images (3 types: catalogue image, single post image and thumbnails – like it is written in the WooCommerce setting/products/display.)
I want to define once myself the dimensions of these 3 types of images.
All my original images will be at least 1000x1200px

I will have around 3000 images to upload and then, it is very important for me to know that.
The most important thing is that the resized images of the 1st type (catalogue images) have to fit(and to match) the defined by me size. This is necessary, because I want to have all my products displayed with the same image size on the category page.

    Thank you
    Bruno

This post seems to have been detached from the plugin forums, which plugin are you posting about?

    Plugin IMSANITY
    Plugin for resizing images

Weird, now it’s showing correctly, wonder if the moderators fixed that…

Anyway, I’m not quite sure I understand your example. But I’ll describe what Imsanity does.

Essentially, it scales any image uploaded to the dimensions set by you on the Imsanity settings. So if you upload a 2000×2000 image and you tell Imsanity you want everything at 1000×1200, it will resize the 2000×2000 image to 1000×1000. Any sizes, like the 3 for Woocommerce, will still be created if they are smaller than 1000×1000.

    Thank for your answer.
I explain want I am searching for:
I want to upload my product images by the traditionnal way of WooCommerce.

But, in the settings of Woocommerce, you indicate a MAXIMUM size of your images.

For the catalogue images ( that one which appears to the visitor first), I want to have them with THE SAME SIZE ( question of more regular display of the products on the page)
    Example : 300x300px.

Check this screenshot for understandig the target I am looking for: all catalogue images are the same; even if the original pictures are differents.

If I upload a picture 1000x1200px, will Imsanity resize my image (and if necessary croppping it) to match exactly 300x300px?

For the 2 other types (single product and thumnail, it is not important).

Is there a Paid version existing?

    Thank you
    Bruno

You don’t need to use Imsanity to achieve that. Simply set the catalog image to 300×300 and check the Hard Crop checkbox, under WooCommerce->Settings->Products->display.

What you may want to do is set Imsanity to cap your full-size versions to something like 1000×1000, but WooCommerce will take care of the catalog images for you.

And no, there isn’t a paid version of Imsanity, all features are available for free. If you want awesome compression on top of resizing though, there is a paid version of EWWW Image Optimizer that will make your images load even faster.

Yes, I knew that; BUT I am working with Storefront/boutique (child) and with that theme, the sizes of the images are limited (catalogue 200x200px; thumbnail 45×45)
That is to say that I can increase the size of the pictures as I want, in the display/setting of the product, on the screen I always have an image with the same size (in millimeters)
45×45 is around 10 mm and it is very small ; the visitors cannot see the differences between the thumbnails at a glance.

Hmm, don’t know what to do about that, as Imsanity can’t override what your theme is doing.

    Thank you
