    Hi
I currently use EWWW image optimiser for compression with their resizing service Exact DN.

I see smush it has resizing built in to the same plugin which is interesting. My only concern is from your material it says I need to set the sizes myself. I wouldnt know how to do that. Exact DN automatically detects optimum sizes and resizes images accordingly. There are multiple elements i upload images to each having their own dimensions and I’m not confident I would know what dimensions are required. There arent even specific dimensions given by my theme. I just follow my nose with my theme because there is probably a minimum size but often image quality is better above that and though compression is critical to me image quality is also critical to my industry. So I need to know how the resizig configuration needs to be done manually and how that works

I am also surprised by the fact your material says your entry level compression and resizing plugin says its totally FREE. That’s fantasticif that is the case because I have a limit of free compressions with EWWW.io and after that I pay per compression. I also pay a subscription for Exact DM. Can you confirm if these features are completely free to use, i.e. unlimited compressions and resizes ? or are there costs like other plugins I’ve seen

    Thanks

    Andrew

    Hey @ahamaton,

    Hope you’re well.

First, about the resizing; Smush does not resize any of your thumbnails in the current version. Because of the thumbnails already created by the theme, your theme should create the correct size of the thumbnail from the original uploaded image.

But Smush can resize your full-size images to get rid off unnecessary sizes. For example, if you are using max size images at 1000×1000 on your site, you can set “Resize my full-size images” option to 1000×1000. And if someone uploads bigger image, Smush will resize it.

About the compress feature; Yes we are providing compression totally FREE. But to compress the image, your images sending to our servers and after smushed return back. So to keep everything running smoothly we have to put some limits like bulk smush limit. You can Smush 50 images with one click at most. But you can run unlimited 50 images bulk smush again and again 🙂

And we are allowing bigger size images smush only on pro version. Other then that we don’t have any limit, you can automatically compress unlimited images on upload or one by one from the media library.

    Cheers,
    Oguz
