• Hey all. Every time I publish a post with a Youtube video my site will be unaccessible for at least 10min. I am resizing the videos. Could this be the issue? Anyone else having this issue? Here is my code.

    <table width=”325″ height=”255″ border=”0″ align=”left”>
    <tr>
    <td height=”255″ align=”center” valign=”top”><object width=”325″ height=”250″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/tJLPhq_NMYI”></param><param name=”wmode” value=”transparent”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/tJLPhq_NMYI&#8221; type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” wmode=”transparent” width=”325″ height=”250″></embed></object></td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    any help would be great. I know not many people are resizing the Youtube videos, but it should work fine. This is making me crazy. Thanks all.

  • of course it could be an issue.

    Use some braincells and dont resize them and see what happens.

    Use some braincells? Wonderful response. I am sizing them for a reason.

    I am sizing them for a reason.

    that has nothing to do with my reply. You asked if resizing them could be causing the problem. You ought to be able to test that yourself, yes?

    Your reason for doing it has no bearing on your ability to troubleshoot what you are seeing.

    If I say, I am displaying my name in a 200px font on my site and its scrolling off the page, and then asked here if the 200px font might be the problem, I would expect that someone would say,

    “have you tried resizing the font to something smaller to see if that solves the problem?”

    Listen. I have been troubleshooting this problem for weeks. I have done everything I can think of to no avail. So, whooami…save the condescending tone and don’t reply unless you actually have something constructive to say.

    that WAS constructive. lets start over.

    You say:

    Every time I publish a post with a Youtube video my site will be unaccessible for at least 10min. I am resizing the videos.

    So heres a less condescending answer:

    What happens when you DONT resize them?

    For the record, that was the same damn reply; just worded differently.

    Or are you hoping that someone else will take the time to see if they too can make their site slow just to prove that resizing youtube vidoes doesnt work?

    See what happens when you resize this:

    http://www.youtube.com/jp.swf

    See hat happens when you dont resize it.

    I have the problem even if I don’t resize. I feel like it might be the version I am using, or possibly something on Yahoo’s end. I am stumped.

    I have no trouble..with this in a stand alone page. Im guessing youve removed the table tags, etc.. to no avail?

    @actionbasic.
    what do you mean with

    my site will be unaccessible for at least 10min

    Is that in your admin screen after you have published your post? That could mean that wordpress is trying to ping youtube because of the youtube url in your post.
    if so, try unchecking Attempt to notify any Weblogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.) in Options-Discussion
