Resized images wont appear

Last month i have been struggling with a problem in a site i am responsible for and i cant make most of the images appear…
All the images appear except for the ones that i try to resize (not scale) so i got into the HTML and i removed the resize variable from the link src and srcset and the images appeared…
Every image i try to resize wont appear and i cant find any site that suggests any solution so i am asking here.

Hi, I am a new user in wordpress and I just made my first site.
I have a problem about image in header: I want to reduce the size of image in theme “Twenty Sixteen” (beucase I think is huge) and I don’t know how is it.
Please, can you tell me how I ‘ll make this in code, without I loss image quality?
I changed the image dimensions (from multimedia: 2008×1004 -> 1200×968) but the header (image) dimensions in template are the same.Thank you!
