  • Hello!

I was wondering if there is a way to resize imgages when uploading.

What I mean is not only making thumbnails (thumb-medium-large) but resizing the original image. This is because on my network install some users uploads images of tons of Mb … hudge resolution (4000×3000 px and even more). That’s a waste of space and resources.

I could block uploading images of more than let say 1 Mb, but I would make as simple as possible to the users. The perfect solution would be a script that checks the resolution of the original image when uploading, and if it is too big resize it to some predefinited values.

any suggestion? any known plugins that does that?

    Thanks

    Hi Andrea_r,

thanks for the answer. Unfortunatly I’ve checked the plugins and the ones that could be useful are all outdated:

    • Resize on Upload -> compatible up to 2.8.3
    • Resize at Upload -> compatible up to 2.7
    • Resize at Upload Plus -> compatible up to 2.7

I think I’ll check them to see if it is easly possible to make them work on WP3+ and multisite too.

sometiems plugin still work and just haven’t been updated to reflect it. 🙂

Yes, you’ll need to test them.

There’s a chart on the right on the plugin page that lets users mark plugins as working or broken under any version.
