[Resolved] Resetting Post ID to Zero

  • I’ve deleted all posts on my blog and would like to know how to reset the post ID#’s to start over again from zero. Thanks.

  • The number is maintained within MySQL, so I’m guessing that short of dropping the database and recreating it, there really is no way of resetting that number.

If you just enable permalinks, those numbers will not matter.

I would assume that post_id is an autoindex. An autoindex in a table can be reset via query. Check this post on another topic.

I recently did something like this by using the MySQLAdmin function via my webhost’s Control Panel and just edited the ID#s manually.

I was editing link ID#s, but it should not be any different to change the post ID#s.
