    Hi there,

We have a private site with issues. I assumed it was due to caching, but I have excluded the frontend login and reset password pages from the cache and the issue persists

On the login page, the reset password link being output is http://Caroline (my username) instead of /reset-password, even in incognito mode and new browsers

From /reset-password the user receives an email with a link to /reset-password?xxx, but the link just shows the same reset password form and not the fields for entering the new password

When I reset the user’s password from wp-admin the link is in the format /wp-login.php?xxx and takes the user to the frontend login page even though I have added /wp-login.php* to the list of excluded paths

    Hope you can help!

    Hi @carolineelisa,

    1. Could you please go to your site’s Dashboard -> Plugins -> Installed Plugins -> and send a full screenshot with everything you have installed related to Profile Builder (make sure the plugin version can be seen)?
    2. Could you please go to your site’s Dashboard -> Profile Builder -> Settings -> General Settings -> and send a full screenshot from there (please make sure all the settings from that page can be seen)?
    3. Could you please go to your site’s Dashboard -> Profile Builder -> Settings -> Email Customizer -> User Emails -> and send a screenshot from where the Password Reset email template can be seen?
    4. Could you please go to your site’s Dashboard -> Profile Builder -> Settings -> Private Website -> and send a full screenshot from there (please make sure all the settings from that page can be seen)?
    5. Could you please go to your site’s Dashboard -> Pages -> edit the page where you have added the Recover Password form -> and send a screenshot where it can be seen exactly how the form was added to the page?
    6. Could you please provide the URL of the front-end Login form (that also links to the Recover Password page), I also want to look at this issue.

You can use a site like https://snipboard.io/ to share the screenshots.

    Thank you for your response.

So I got rid of the weird link issue by creating a new reset password page and reassigning it. Now the link is ?page_id=XXX and works. Hopefully that was just a one off!

Then the issue remained that links in the default WordPress emails to set the password did not work.

Specifically, in both the ‘Login Details’ (when new users are added in the backend) and ‘Password Reset’ (when admin resets password) emails the link is /wp-login.php?login=XXX&key=XXX&action=rp

As mentioned, I had added wp-login.php* as an exclusion but this didn’t work and the links redirected to the PB login page and not a form to set a new password.

I think I have fixed it by adding ‘action’ to the Allowed Query Strings – can you confirm this is the best method?: https://monosnap.com/file/ByvtzHDu7oDFQw6Z4aLByq3zQzEMqf

Sorry I can’t share the link to the site under development on a public forum

    Thanks again
    Caroline

    Hi @carolineelisa,

Yes, this is a good alternative/workaround for what you’re trying to achieve
