Reset Password any other way? (3 posts)

Hi, I've installed and been using WP on a couple of sites without problem and this morning installed it for a third site. I reset my Simple Scripts admin password that had been generated this morning to my own. No I didn't forget it, and it had been changed successfully on the Dashboard. Since then I've not been able to log in, and using the reset button (may have generated but) has not sent the new password to my email.

I'm not confident enough to muck around in the php database and neither am I keen to try the Village Idiot fix (I suspect I will still not receive the email) - I'm just a newbie, not a tecchie and I would like to know if there's some other way to reset the admin password that's not detailed under here Thanks.

Through phpMyAdmin is how you do it.

Try this tutorial. Simply follow what he does step by step.

Thanks, I screwed it up and ended up deleting an alias, lost the site contents and didn't reset the password. Ended up phoning BlueHost support and they reinstalled WP, found the old database, reset the password (talked me through doing it) and generally solved everything. They rock. Thanks for your help.
