So I installed this, ran a batch compression at the default settings and the results were pretty amazing.
What I’d like to do is change the defaults to a higher compression level and re-optimize but all of my images are marked optimized and I cannot run it again at the higher compression level.
Is there any way to reset that status so that I can re-batch my images?

  • Same question here. I changed my media size settings and a regenerate-thumbnails didn’t touch the already-optimized images.

How do I reset/restore originals so I can re-run the optimization process?

hi Ed, this is now available with the last updates. @slomeli79 Restoring would be a matter of copying the backed up folder back over the live folder and then re-run the optimisation

    Outstanding. Thank you.
This and WP Disable are on every site’s “must have” list

try out our cache plugin as well, this week adding the ability to cache content inside WP login as well, slowing making it better!

meant to say, if you open an account at cloudinary.com you can add their API key now and you can get 7500 images conversions a month for free

Where does wp-image-optimization save/backup the originals?

Not seeing it. Where exactly in /wp-content does the plugin save originals of images that it has optimized?
