How does one reset the ID counter? When publishing to WordPress, the ID counter is incremented once every time. The number can become huge very quickly, especially when testing. Every single test of anything thru WordPress increases the ID counter. How can a person reset the ID counter back to zero (or any other number of choice)?

    Thank you.

Go to Plugins->Installed plugins, click “Deactivate”, then “Delete” for WOWSlider plugin. “Delete Plugin” dialog will appear. Select “Yes, Delete these files and data”. Plugin and all installed sliders will be removed.
You’ll be able to install plugin again and ID will begin from 1. It’s impossible to change ID on any other number of choice.
Actually, there is no necessity to add WOWSlider in WordPress for testing. You can use “Publish to folder” publishing method and test your slider locally. When you’ll get a required result, add it in WordPress.

Thank you for this method to reset the ID counter to 1. Although inelegant, it is at least one way to accomplish the result. If anyone knows a less dramatic way to do the same thing (without disabling slideshows on the site for a short while), let me know.

Regarding testing… in theory you are correct. In practice, not so. Testing on the local machine produces a different result (particularly for slideshow titles) compared to publishing on the actual site. Presumably this difference is due to more/different CSS content in play. But regardless of the reason, a significant difference exists. It’s not a problem, however, provided there is a way to reset the ID counter. Which there is.

    Thank you.
