Reset Capabilities

Hello,

I’ve unchecked certain capabilities from Administrator role which they were 159 capabilities, now I can’t see the unchecked ones as if they’re removed and all I see is 131 capabilities sound like the other 28 have been deleted. How to restore them? And super admin capability has been removed from the recent updates so the USER ID 1 can’t be the master admin of the site and rest are normal administrators.

Hi c05338,

You have to be really careful with capabilities. Especially when you are working with Administrator capabilities. Ideally you should never uncheck any capabilities for Administrator role or user.

In order to restore your capabilities you would have to login to your database and find wp_user_roles option in your wp_options database table. Then simply replace the content of this options with following

Hi,

I am having the same issue. I have made these changes, and the administrator role is still locked.

Hi steveread,

Try to go to usermeta table and remove all settings that start with aam_ prefix. You might restricted your admin dashboard menu.

Please clarify what do you mean under “my admin is still locked”. What exactly is not working for you?

I can’t get to wp-admin or wp-users (access denied).

I can’t add a user.

In the User/Role Panel, the trashcan icon is greyed out, and the wait icon spins indefinitely

If I deactivate AAM, I have access again, but of course I don’t have the functionality.

I will send the SQL dump separately.

Sorry I’m confused. You’ve sad that you do not have access to wp-admin but at the same time you have access to AAM page (because you’ve mentioned about greyed out buttons, spin etc).

Can you send me your admin credentials so I can see what is your problem?

When I go to the path exede-api.com/wp-admin (or wp-users), I get “access denied”

When I hit the AAM icon in the sidebar, that’s when I get the greyed out icons and the loading spinner.

I can’t give you access to the site; my company locks it down with white-listed IPs etc.

Hello, :/ well, i have the same problem of steveread, if i deactivate AAM or i delete the plugins from FileZilla so i can access. I get the greyed out icons and the loading spinner.

VasilTech support wrote to me: “Most likely you restricted access to your admin role to Dashboard menu.You would need to reset AAM settings manually. Go to database and delete all options that start with aam_ prefix in _options table.”

The problem as steveread, I do not find anywhere in the prefix aam_
and plugins is still installed, and still the charger continues to turn.

I had seen that there were many more hidden pages, so I found seven options with the prefix aam_
I will try to delete it. I will write later if i will have problem. :/
