Support » Plugin: WordPress Featured Video - VideographyWP » Requires YouTube API key

  • Was not suitable for our purposes since it requires an API key which is tedious to obtain, even more tedious to get a client to obtain, and does not provide access to features that we need.

    Hi,

I have to agree with you, Google’s process of generating API keys is indeed a bit difficult but there’s no other way of making requests to YouTube data API.

If your request would have been something that we could remedy, we would take that into account but unfortunately it isn’t.

Could just use the embed uri…

    Hi,

True, but in that case we could not retrieve the features image, title, content and all other video details (which was the point of creating this plugin).

In our use case we don’t need those things. It would be lovely if there were an option that did not require the API key. From the plugin description, it sounded like the purpose was to allow a youtube video to replace the “featured image” in a post.
