• Great comment system, and yes, I have tested it. However, it requires the user to download another plug-in to get the social log-in features. I found this as a terrible move because these other plug-ins could go out of commission at any day, and should that happen, this comment plug-in would be useless.

    Hi Vames,
Thank you for your review, however we think this is another unfair review.
First of all you should rate the plugin itself, as is. If you don’t have any unsolved bug with wpDiscuz you should not decrease plugin rating.
Second, the argument you’re currently talking about is not 3/5 part of plugin functions and features, so maximum you could decrease to 4* not to 2* . We think you’re just interested in decreasing this plugin rating, nothing else.
Also, the main idea why we’ve made Social Login as an add-on is this:
most of websites which need social login have already installed and configured some social login plugin. So wpDiscuz allows people use those plugins for comments without spending ton of time to do the same API Key configuration one more time. This is an advantage, but not a drawback.

    And finally

I found this as a terrible move because these other plug-ins could go out of commission at any day, and should that happen, this comment plug-in would be useless.

So, is this 2* rating your thank you to us who made this very large plugin with dozens of premium functions and features totally free?
There are four Social Login plugin options and all those are free. We following those, and we’ll made new options if all those become non-free. So please don’t worry about this.

    Thank you

No, I’m not here just to decrease the rating of this plugin. I believe not having a built-in social login feature is a disadvantage to me and my website. And while what I am talking about is truly not “3/5 part of plugin functions and features,” it is a huge minus for me, so please understand from my point of view.

Also, you should bear in mind that in the Front End feature list, the following is part of it:

“Social Network Login – Facebook, Twitter, Google+, WordPress, VK, OK and others.”

I downloaded the plugin because I thought these things were built-in, not knowing before hand that I would need to download another plugin to get the social features.

One of those plugins require a subscription to get the best out of it. I think it limits the amount of persons who can login through its service. The best of the bunch haven’t been updated since 2014, and doesn’t officially support the latest version of WordPress. The others are just not good enough.

I think it would be best to add your own social login feature while also giving users the option to use third-party plugins.

    1. Super Socializer:
We’re only talking about social login functions, why are you thinking about best of it? It may have lots of other paid functions, but the Social Login function is free.

One of those plugins require a subscription to get the best out of it. I think it limits the amount of persons who can login through its service. The best of the bunch haven’t been updated since 2014, and doesn’t officially support the latest version of WordPress. The others are just not good enough.

    2. WordPress Social Login,
This is a very popular plugin and works like a charm, it provides with lots of social login options for free, so way it’s not good for you?

    3. Social Connect plugins,
This is not updated but it also works fine.
    ……

So we don’t see any reason for 2* rating. This is just emotions or some aim.

OK I am done here. I made my opinion clear and you’re trying to make it seem as if I have an agenda. Look, not everyone are going to have good things to say about your plugin, and you need to learn how to live with that.

    Good day.

@vames, thank you for your comment.

When I found this plugin, I saw that @gVectors was advertising this plugin to feature “Social Network Login – Facebook, Twitter, Google+, WordPress, VK, OK and others.”

To learn from @vames and @gVectors acknowledges, that you need to download another plugin to get that feature is troubling.

Thank you @vames for pointing this out. Unless that social feature is directly part of the plugin, I will not be using this.

@gVectors, This is an attractive plugin but I really want what you advertise to be true. Please add the social login features directly into the plugin, AS advertised, and you will have my business.

Actually, I take back, sort of, my last comment.

I just used this plugin and it adds nicely to the jetpack comments.

The social sharing advertising in the description is deceptive and should be removed, clarified or really added as an internal option to the plugin.

This is what I was trying to point out to the developers. The reason most WP users are not running from Disqus or Jetpack comments is because these things do not require the user to download more plugins.

The features are built-in, and as such, everything works in a seamless manner.

A lot of administrators want to minimize the amount of plugin they use, so despite Disqus being a comment system that may take a while to load among many other bad things, people will always use it.

Instead of looking into what I have to say, the developer of this plugin chose to accuse me of having an agenda. Such a childish way of thinking, and so unprofessional.

    Hi Vames,
    All is obvious…
Also if something is not enough for you in current plugin version you can ask for adding it in future version using support forum, like it do other folks. As you can see 90% of new functions and features have been added after requesting by our users. This is the correct steps to get a plugin you want without annoying plugin authors. But you’re not asking and you’re not suggesting. You decreasing plugin rating without even thinking to be thankful for such a large and free plugin (believe me this is the “childish way of thinking”) even if you don’t use it.

I installed the plugin, used it, didn’t find it to my liking, and as such, made my complaints clear in a review. What more do you want? You people must be crazy.

I don’t have to make feature request separate from a review. You read the review, and if you guys feel the need to take what I had to say into consideration, then fine. If not, that’s fine too, it’s up to you.

You can’t take criticisms so you guys accuse users having an agenda. That is childish because my review is just one review of many, and you folks had to go out of your way to make a huge deal out of it just because I didn’t fall in line like a robot.

At the end of the day, you either like the review or you didn’t. You either want to make changes based on what I said, or you don’t. But don’t try to tell me what I should or should not say about a plugin because it is free.

You opened your plugin to the public, so folks are free to say what they believe, not to see you guys get all emotional like a child who had his or her candy taken away.

Go make ridiculous comments to someone who doesn’t know what they are talking about.

We just want to prevent other authors from such unfair reviewers as you nothing more. And please never pass limits of censures when you’re commenting here. The only crazy comments I see here yours. If you’re not a plugin author you’ll never understand the reason of our reaction…

    Thread Starter Vames

    (@vames)

I don’t need to understand you guys and what you all go through, that is not my concern, that’s yours so don’t seek my pity man. What you need to understand is how to take criticisms without accusing users.

You create something for public consumption, there will be harsh criticisms, even if you view some as unfair. That’s life for you. Don’t only live it, understand it, accept it and move on.

At the end of the day, my criticisms of your plugin is solid and on the money, and you guys know it, but can’t handle the truth and are not willing for others to see it. So you decide to single me out as the bad guy.

You know what? People complain about Disqus and Jetpack every day, yet they still use them. The ratings for Disqus is lower than this plugin, yet admins are still using it.

Your plugin will only please WordPress users for a short while then they will return to the horror that is Disqus. Why? It is a complete package, and admins want to use less plugins, not more.

With Disqus, you can almost be sure that next year it will be around, it will work. Who can be sure of the social plugins required for your plugin to really shine? You either create a complete package or don’t bother at all, because everyone will eventually revert back to Disqus.

This plugin is good and is going to better in every update and become best comment plugin in future. KEEP IN MIND you are getting this for free and if you are talking about social login, in this feature it is best than others WHY? because it supports other free social plugins. And for me SUPER SOCIALIZER and WP DISCUZZ has good combo. According to your point of view ” You want everything in free and also want that developer provide you social login too” Coding and developing takes much time and research!.

    Hello,

I just installed this plugin, along with the add-on Super Socializer, but am having some trouble, seemingly with getting them to play nice together. Rather than starting a new thread, this seems like it might be a good place to ask for clarification because I did install both wpDiscuz and Super Socializer but still can’t get the social login feature to work as advertised From what folks have said above, it sounds like both plugins are necessary to access the full range of features advertised, so presumably they should be functional on my site.

What I’m specifically referring to is the part about the plugin allowing “Social Network Login – Facebook, Twitter, Google+, WordPress, VK, OK and others”. After installing this new plugin, my users can log in via Facebook, Google+, or Disqus, but they no longer have the option of logging in via WordPress. Could I have an obvious setting tweaked??

After much trouble shooting, the only possible culprit I see is that when I browse on my blog to WPDISCUZ –> Settings –> Social Login –> Super Socializer –> Settings, I get a blank screen that says “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” Huh?!

So far both wpDiscuz and SS promise to be exactly what I want for my blog, but my users have to be able to log in via WP.

I welcome any trouble shooting tips! Thanks!

This doesn’t have any relation to wpDiscuz. If you login with facebook account WordPress creates simple WP User with your FB Name and avatar, so you can’t register twice. You’ve already registered as a regular user. You think FB login is something special, but it isn’t it’s the same simple WordPress registration, which is being done automatically by SS plugin. If someone wants to register with simple WP form he/she should logout before be able to create a new user. All is correct, i don’t see any issue.

[Moderator note: Please don’t post in upper case]

then what is the use of social login if you again want to use wordpress login. social login is made for one click login without setting password, if you really want that your site user should enter password to login then goto user>>edit user>>reset password.

social login is made for simplycity and you want the traditional trouble back, i don’t know why ?
