I know a number of theme designers have their favorite plug-ins. They like the functionality the plug-in provides, so they design their theme to work better with the plug-in installed. Which means that often the theme user has to find the plug-in, download it, upload to the server, get it activated, get it configured, and all that stuff. So here’s my suggestion.

Incorporate the plug-in into the theme. Isn’t that what “function” is for? As a matter of fact, I think it would be a good idea for plug-in designers to write guidelines for directly incorporating their plug-in into a theme. Or write a version of the plug-in code that could be placed in the appropriate section of the theme, with guidelines as to placement etc.

Now, if you do go with built-in plug-ins then including a link to the plug-in author’s place is a courteous thing to do.

    A suggestion and nothing more.
