• Hi WordPress Team,

I hope you’re doing well! I’m writing to request an improvement regarding plugin compatibility with the latest WordPress version 6.0.

I’ve been using a few popular plugins for my website, and after updating to WordPress 6.0, I’ve encountered some compatibility issues. Specifically, [Plugin Name] isn’t functioning as expected, and it seems to cause slow page loading times and errors when trying to update posts.

I understand that plugin developers may need time to update their plugins to be fully compatible with new WordPress versions. However, it would be helpful if there could be more detailed guidance on the official WordPress plugin repository about which versions of plugins are compatible with each new WordPress release.

Additionally, a heads-up or notification when major compatibility issues are known (either through the WordPress dashboard or plugin update notifications) would be incredibly useful.

Thank you for considering this suggestion! I appreciate all the hard work that goes into making WordPress the amazing platform it is. Looking forward to hearing any updates or suggestions you may have.

    Best regards,
    [Jhon Desuza]

  • Are you really talking about WordPress 6.0? That’s a bit older. The current version is 6.7.2.

But your comments are absolutely correct and important. The problem with marking which version of a plugin is compatible with which WordPress is again the reliability of the developers. This information should come from them. Therefore, and because you should always use the latest versions if possible, there is only one specification that the developer has to make: up to which version is his plugin tested. Nothing more.

WordPress itself prevents the installation of incompatible plugins. I’m just not sure when this restriction was added. If you are actually using WordPress 6.0, it could be that this was not yet the case there.

Please note that volunteers post in this forum. There is no “team” in that sense (only the support team, which deals with requests in the forum and not with specific requests to WordPress). If you have specific requests, you can also submit them to the developers in the Core Trac: https://core.trac.wordpress.org – also check there to see if these ideas have not already been expressed, some of them are duplicated.
