clicking any of the posts on my website return the same error. The page loads, all the content is there, however after a few seconds I get the error message “Request failed. Returned status of 404”. Nothing was changed on this website that I am aware of, yet this problem appeared recently and I just can’t seem to figure out what is causing it.

It is only the posts (all of them), not the pages on the website that return the error message.

Further information: In using Chrome I get the more detailed message “An embedded page at widgets.wp.com says: Request failed. Returned status of 404”.

    Further information:

Jetpack Version 6.0 was released on April 3, 2018. My problems started after that. When I deactivated version 6.0 the error message went away. I tried uninstalling Jetpack, then re-installing, but problem persisted.

Have now rolled back to version 5.9.

Same problem. I have tracked it to the Like option in Sharing. Disable and it goes away – hope this can be fixed soon

I’m having the same problem with “From an embedded page at widgets.wp.com Request Failed: Returned status of 404” two sites I have today. It just started with no warning.
I’ve now disabled ‘likes’ on both sites and that appears to have resolved the issue for now. I hope this gets fixed soon.
