I would recommend leaving your request with the Core team as a ticket: https://core.trac.wordpress.org
Hello @saladgoat
Open a ticket is good idea so they can add this feature in future realse. but if you want this feature you should write custom code, there is filters and hooks available for customization.
Thanks,
@threadi This forum is called Requests and Feedback … I guess I don’t know what is the point of a forum for Requests if nobody from the Core team actually reads them….
@chiragpatel I wouldn’t know the first thing about writing custom code for that. If you can point me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it.
Thanks!
The WordPress Core team is busy developing WordPress. They are not here in the forum but on their own developer “playground”, the above mentioned Trac. Here in the forum you will only get support from volunteers who work with WordPress themselves. See also: https://wordpress.org/support/guidelines/
As for hooks for quick edit, check this out: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/365150/how-to-add-a-custom-field-to-quick-edit
As well as the manual (there are also examples included): https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/hooks/quick_edit_custom_box/
My point is that the forum is called Requests and Feedback. If the Team isn’t reading it, then it’s a bit of a pointless forum, isn’t it? If every request someone posts is met with “you should post that in core.trac” why not just remove the forum and redirect to that in the first place?
Thanks for the links. Very involved (for my non-programmer brain) but I will read it a few dozen times and see if it sinks in. lol

You’re right and thanks for the feedback.

Not at all. Many of the requests and feedback here are addressed by volunteers. When someone has an idea and others think it should be submitted then they are asked to make a trac ticket about it.
*Drinks coffee, so good.*
If you do not want to make a ticket that’s fine. Think of this forum as a first pass. The trac ticket is the next step. Many ideas are addressed without submitting a ticket thus this forum.
