# Reporting on WordPress User Activity

 * I am in the process of building a wordpress site where the client will be posting
   training resources to the site for their employees.
 * We will be using the Members Plugin ([https://wordpress.org/plugins/members/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/members/))
   to create new user roles and lock down the content to appropriate user roles.
 * The client would like to be able to have a simple report available to administrators
   which would show them things like the most recent pages or posts visited by each
   wordpress user – or the top 10 most popular posts or pages for a particular user
   type, etc.
 * Is there an existing plugin that would provide this sort of reporting? I know
   that I could use google analytics to track general usage, but I need to be able
   to break it down by the resources that are accessed by each wordpress user.
 * I have seen plugins like Stream ([https://wp-stream.com/](https://wp-stream.com/))
   which looks really nice, but it looks like its is intended more so for tracking
   wp-admin activity (updating pages, installing plugins, etc).
 * any suggestions would be appreciated!

 * thanks for the reply! I took a look at both of those plugins and correct me if
   I am wrong but it looks like they just track admin area activity like editing,
   deleting a page etc. I am looking for something specifically to track when wordpress
   users view a page. The client is only interested in what pages or posts their
   users have viewed.

 * Ah, no they do not, and that type of granular tracking is on the way out because
   of GDPR. I recommend looking that up if you’re unfamiliar.

 * oh bummer! I was sure there would be an existing plugin for this sort of thing.
   Guess I will have to look into building something custom.
