Support » Plugin: bbPress Topics for Posts » Reply counter working downwards

  • Hello!

I had some blog articles, when I installed this plugin with the admin account. I managed to create forum topics, so everything went ok. Since the installation I wrote two new articles with my personal account and used the admin account to time-schedule them. They were published correctly and the corresponding topics were created. Then I found some typos in some articles and as the admin corrected them. What happened, was that the number of replies in the bbPress forum went downward. It did not stay where it was (the correct functionality) but one was subtracted from it for every save I made!

If you take a look at the page, I provided the link to, notice the three first topics:

    • “La la la la la la la la (osa 2)” with a reply count -1, while correct should be 0
    • “La la la la la la la la (osa 1)” with a reply count -3, while correct should be 0
    • “Miten kirjoittaa esperanton erikoiset kirjaimet? (osa 3)” with a reply count 2 while correct would be 3

Let me repeat, every save of a blog article reduces the reply count by one, when the article has been published.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I found a hack to reset the counter. I used my personal account to write a reply, thus increasing the number of replies. After that I used the admin account to remove that reply, et voilà the counter was reset to the correct value. Note, that it was enough to write a single reply to reset the counter, not one for every “off” in the counter.

Anyway there is definitely something fishy under the hood, how the post is connected to replies in the forum. Note, that I don’t display the number of replies next to the post.
