Support » Plugin: Custom Product Tabs for WooCommerce » Replace regular reviews tab with custom tab

Your plugin is great and I’m thinking about purchasing the Pro version. It says I can remove WooCommerce’s default reviews tab but I am wondering if there is a way to replace the default reviews tab with a custom tab that shows all product reviews? I have already set up a tab but the product pages show the default Reviews tab (showing only reviews for that product) as well as the custom tab I created that shows sitewide reviews. I would like it to show just the sitewide reviews so is there a way to replace the default reviews tab with the custom tab or to hide the default reviews tab so it only shows the one? My concern if I hide the default reviews tab is if people click on the number of reviews showing at the top of the page it normally links directly to the default reviews tab so I want to make sure that link isn’t broken. That’s why I wondered if the custom tab can replace the default reviews tab.

Also, is it possible to show all tabs open by default, one after the other? Currently people have to click on the tab title to view its content but I’m wondering if they can all be set to be open by default so as people scroll down the page first they see the “description” content, then the “reviews” are directly below, etc.

    Thank you!

    Hi @leahjm77,

The way the pro plugin removes the default Reviews tab is by hiding it. We could give you some custom code to hide your Reviews tab. However, this will break the link that you mentioned. You’d probably want to remove that link. Or we could try to change that link so it links to your custom reviews tab. Please send me a URL to your product page so I can check that out.

Also, making all the tabs open by default will require changing your tabs template file. Are you familiar with editing/updating/replacing WooCommerce template files? It might be possible to do this with CSS too. Agaun, please send me a URL to your product page so I can find out.

    Thank you,
    Kevin.

Hi Kevin, thank you for your reply. I could probably remove the reviews link at the top of each page or I might keep both for the products that do have product specific reviews. I was actually able to make all the tabs open by default by following your instructions from a previous support request, so that’s great. I will be purchasing the Pro version so I can add custom tabs to all products at once rather than individually. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Kevin, I just have one question. I upgraded to the Pro version today and all is working well. The only thing is I have checked the option to hide the “Additional Information” tab but it’s still showing the title above my ‘related products’ section. I can’t hide the title using CSS because it hides all the tab titles then. I was just wondering if you might know why that tab is still showing or how I could hide it? You can see an example at this link near the bottom of the page – https://jrmhockeyart.com/products/ken-dryden-2/. Thank you

    Hi @leahjm77,

It looks like that title is hardcoded in your theme’s product template (I think a template called single-product.php, content-product.php, or tabs.php).

You’ll need to remove this (the best way to do so would be to use a child theme and replace that template).

    Does that make sense?

    Let me know.

    Thank you,
    Kevin.
