WooCommerce “Order” is a post type and has attached post meta just like other WP post objects. WooCommerce offers a basic UI to manage product items in order and their details (all meta data in the end).
But there are limitations with what you can do with it! There’s no way, for example, to rearrange the items in the order (via drag n drop) or their details (rows and such). All meta data attached to each item consists of a key pair of two strings, but what if the data I’m sending to order is a bit more elaborate than that or a product has many options?
Is there a way to filter out the Order meta UI with Advanced Custom Fields and benefit of the great UI that ACF comes with? It comes already with (nestable) repeaters, drag n drop, fields of all sorts, to manage posta meta, and more. One could map entries from cart/checkout to such fields. Retrieving data from individual items should be even more easier (for invoice/order review use for example).
Has anyone attempted to do this? Do you think it would be possible?
