    I’m using v. 2.3.5 of the AiO.

I’ve had a couple of repeating events that were originally scheduled on 1/6/2013 and set to repeat weekly on Sunday forever. One is still working, but the other stops on 1/3/2016. I’ve tried re-saving the event that isn’t repeating as it should, but no joy. It shows that repeat is set “weekly on Sunday, forever” and the event is published and public.

I just noticed this yesterday before doing the update to v. 2.3.5, so I’m not sure when it started.

Any ideas how to fix it?

I found something interesting that may point to the cause of the problem, and at least serves as a workaround if you don’t have a lot of repeating entries to fix.

The entry that wasn’t repeating–despite being set to every Sunday forever–had 01/06/2013 as its original entry date. I changed it to the first Sunday this month, 01/03/2016, and saved the change. Now the event is appearing and repeats through 12/30/2018.

As to what might be causing this, if I advance the calendar beyond 12/2018, the event doesn’t show up, so it may be that there is some kind of programmatic three-year limit on “forever”?

Unfortunately this has been an ongoing bug that has been promised to be addressed but has yet to be fixed.

This is very annoying when you have events that span many years.

    Hi,

Due to technical limitations and application design all events that use the “Repeat” option with no end date, create instances from the event start date up to 3-4 years, so it is necessary to reset events.

Benjamin, is this something that is going to be fixed in a future version?

I didn’t look at your code, but in the ai1ec_events table, I see a column called “recurrence rules.” The “forever” repeating events don’t have an “UNTIL” parameter. It would be easy to write code that would continue such events indefinitely each time a calendar is generated. What technical limitations/design issues are you referring to?

Even if you had to resort to using wp-cron to reset the “forever” events every so often so that they do, indeed, continue indefinitely, this shouldn’t be too difficult.
