Hi! I am having this same problem when trying to share events using AddThis on cultivateurbanrainforest.com/community.
It appears that the first date of the recurring event is what gets attached to the og:title for all future events. Even re-scraping the URL with the instance ID (using Facebook’s debug tool) did not cause the og:title to update. How do we successfully share a recurring event on Facebook that shows the correct date for that instance?
Thanks!
Hi! I am just checking in to see if there is anything we can do about this? Or is sharing recurring events on social media not possible with your plugin?
Thanks!
Kari
Hi! Is there any help you can provide on this issue or should I be using another plugin?
Thanks,
Kari
I’m thinking I’ll have to find a new plugin but I’m not sure if it’s a new calendar plugin or social medial sharing plugin. I’m no WordPress expert but the Social media plugin I use had the author respond right away to my question and he pointed out what the calendar plugin was doing so I’m guessing I’ll have to find a new calendar since we’re not getting any support here in 3 weeks! Boo to that!
Is anyone seeing support here?
I emailed VPproduct@time.ly to request assistance. Hopefully there will be a response here.
I sure hope so! Can you post any replies here if they don’t? Thanks!!
Thanks for escalating this to me on email to vpproduct@time.ly. We are always overwhelmed with support and we miss things having just Ben as our support person.
I asked ben to take a look, try to reproduce and pass to me his conclusions. He’ll follow-up here…
Hi,
Sorry for not replying sooner. @kentinada, can you please provide a link to the event where I can see the issue, it seems that links above are no longer active.
I created a new event to show you what is happening. Here’s a link to the first event on 7/25/16 at 6:30pm.
http://dev.mosaicgr.org/event/test-monthly-event/?instance_id=223
Here’s a link to the event the next month.

The og tags on the recurring items inherit the parent properties and hence that is what shows up when I try to share it on Facebook.
Let me know if you need more info.
What browser do you use? Can you please provide a screenshot of how the event looks like when sharing because I can not replicate the issue.
Also have you tried NextGEN Facebook plugin, many users have confirmed that sharing events works best with this plugin.
I use Chrome on a Mac. Now when I try to share the event using AddThis plugin, no date is shown. Don’t know when that changed but I’m attaching a screen shot of the share attempt.
I have not tried NextGEN plugin but I will and report back here.
Screenshot is in Dropbox:

So I just installed the NextGEN plugin on my development site and shared the 8-25-16 event which had the original event on 7-25. See the screenshot in the link on Dropbox. NextGEN now shows it the way it looked with AddThis. It has the original event date in the share – not the current event date.

Events sharing definitely needs improvement, so I created a public bug, please vote, subscribe and comment here: http://ideas.time.ly/ideas/CAL-I-380. Resolving this topic as we’ll keep you posted at that link.
Thanks,
Ben
