# Repairing Databases ?!

 * Suddenly it said I had to repair my detabases then this happened?!
    Help!!!

 * No, it tells me “One or more database tables are unavailable. The database may
   need to be repaired.” then I can either repair or repair and optimize which only
   leads me to the original message.

 * That error means that your database has crashed, and by the looks of it pretty
   badly.
 * If you don’t have a backup of the database I’d talk to your hosting company as
   soon as possible and see if they have backups that they can reinstate. If they
   don’t then there’s really not anythng that anyone can do.
 * This is another reason that it’s always recommended that you have backups, and
   if possible, multiple ones so you can revert if something like this does happen.

 * Luckily it was a fresh install, all I need to do is just delete and restart the
   installation then?

 * If it’s a fresh install, then yes, deleting the database tables is by far the
   best way to go.
 * And after that, keep backups regularly. This may not happen again, but it could
   very easily be an ongoing problem.
