Yes I know it was stupid… but here is what I did.

I had a duplicate of the page HOME on my top menu – and I misunderstood some instructions for removing it. I clicked on General>Settings in my WP control panel… and stupidly renamed the “WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)” from the correct http://www.mywebsiteaddress.com/123 to the incorrect http://www.mywebsiteaddress.com/123/home

It’s in a subdirectory hence the extra bit on the end of the correct URLs… as I’m building it off the site it eventually goes on (too many duplications of URLs otherwise)

Yes I know – I’m already beating myself up about it!

Anyhway – I wonder if anyone can tell me how I can fix it?

I do have another tab open with a “Edit Page” open in it. I can’t click to another page from it… because it gives me a page not found.

I did click “Back” to get back to “Settings” and tried to correct it, but that didn’t work. Then I refreshed the page hoping that would work too – but no… and so now I can’t get back to that page.

    Any ideas people?

    Thanks from a complete idiot!

I forgot to say (if it helps at all) that I can log into my FTP… and can see that all the files are in the correct folders. It’s just my Control panel (and obviously now ebsite) that aren’t displaying… and just giving me the “Not Found” message

Ropy – you are an absolute angel! Thank you ever so much. If you were here I’d give you a great big kiss. But you’ll just have to make do with my thanks… and me raising a virtual glass of something cold in your honour.

Very much appreciated – and all fixed, following your instructions and link.

I won’t be changing that again in a hurry!!!
