Rename Theme Templates?

    I run a fairly large WP site with over 300 pages. I am also using using 10 separate custom templates within my theme. The client has requested that the individual templates be renamed. Unfortunately, whenever I rename a template, the pages using that template will default back to the page.php template. This would be no problem if there were few pages.

    Is there any way to either rename templates and have it’s pages “follow” that template, or quickly change many page’s templates at once?

    Seems you should be able to do a search/replace on the db changing the old template name to the new. Of course, you would need to change the template names first. As always, backup first….
