    Hi,

when I use the “Rename WP Login” feature for our live website everything seems fine (thanks!).

However on my localhost I get a 404 error page of WP for the secret URL and a browser 404 error for wp-login.php

I’m using a Bitnami WAMP stack to run localy for testing before going live.
    Blog URL looks like: https://localhost:4443/blog
We are forcing https on the site and there is also an IIS Webserver running on my machine, therefore the extra port number to avoid conflicts.

    Any ideas?

Honestly… I’ve no idea why that wont work locally for you. It could be 1001 different possible things.

Anyway looks like you did some changes related to this feature and with your latest version (or with WP 4.2.2 now) it seems to work fine now, many thanks! 🙂

Yep, we’ve made some adjustments and improvements to the feature and I’ve received similar reports that in some cases where it didn’t work as expected, it does now.

Thank you for reporting back to me on this! 🙂

Can I ask a huge favour…? Could you leave us a nice review on WordPress.org if you like the plugin and how it works for your on your site. We’re just trying to get our fans to be a bit more vocal and spread the word? 😀 Anything you can do to help with this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Paul.

The rename url is not working either in a published site.
wp-login.php is available when using any external IP.

I think it wp-login.php should not be visible/browsable.

Is this feature done by tweeking .htaccess file?

Also, ‘Rename WP Login Page’ tab should have a test button to check if wp-login is browsable or not, using cURL for example.

Can you send me a link to a site that has the rename function turned on, but not showing the new wp-login.php.

Is it a WPMS site and do you have permalinks enabled?

Also, it isn’t as easy as looking for wp-login.php via cURL… it’s much more complicated than that.
