Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Removing wpseo Rows In Postmeta

  • Resolved bward

What setting causes a content score to be taken of posts? I see a lot of rows in our postmeta table label as below. Hopefully, I turned it off through SEO analysis and Readability analysis.

I would like to remove these tables, is it safe to do?

Even though it appears I have all settings off, I still see the link table incrementing. We Yoast for very basic functionality and would really like to remove this as well, and keep it from incrementing link counts.

    Thanks so much.

The Scores of pages are enabled by going to SEO-General-Settings and switching on the SEO and Readability Analysis. That will make Yoast start showing scores for the different posts and pages.

If you disable it, we would expect no scores should be calculated in the database for new posts. Can you confirm that is the case?

Also, we do know Yoast taps into the WordPress API to make calls. On some server configurations this may result in unexpected behavior. If you were to reactivate the Yoast SEO plugin (if you deactivated it) and then go to SEO->General->Features can you then confirm that the Text Link Counter is disabled?

This is expected to stop the link table from incrementing.

In regards to the other tables, we are not sure if you should or should not remove them as we are not sure what would happen on your specific site.

We suggest creating a staging site and then experimenting with removing them then reviewing the results. If you do not have a staging sites, your host provider may be able to make one for you. Additionally, if needed, this guide explains more about creating a staging site:

The features are disabled and still incrementing in the database under “wp_yoast_seo_links”. I did deactivate the plugin and reactive it as you requested and all of the features remain off.

    Thank you.

Odd. We would expect that if you disabled those features the wp_yoast_seo_links would stop incrementing.

We would like some more information.

    A. Can you confirm your server has all the right requirements? This guide explains more: We ask as we want to rule out the set-up of the site as an issue.

    B. If you have all the requirements, that sounds like a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:

    1. Make sure you are using the most recent version of Yoast, v10.1.

    2. Make sure that all your non-Yoast plugins and themes are updated.

    3. Check for conflicts.

    4. If there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.
