You can add a link to an image.
But I think you’re talking about widgets? Just remove them under Appearance >> Widgets. They could be in Header Widget area for example.

You can add image in text widget, but you need to put the html code like this.

Before doing anything else, have you installed and activated child theme? All custom CSS should go to child theme style.css.
