Removing the header in the Default theme

  • Hi,

I installed WordPress through my godaddy account.

I’ve spent the last 4 or 5 hours trying to figure out how to get rid of the header – either to get rid of it completely or to replace it with my own image.

I’ve done a fair bit of googleing, and I see quite a few other people have had the same problem – there are lots of people explaining what to do, but I really need this explaining in baby-steps.

I’ve read, for example, people saying ‘locate such-and-such image or file’ – but I haven’t a clue where to find those images/files.

I really need this explaining in real basic terms – like ‘go to this page’ ‘click on this’ ‘delete this’… etc.

    Would be very much appreciated.

    Anyone..?

  • I’ve also seen advice that it’s easier to install a different theme – the WP site says that in order to do that, “you generally just need to upload the theme folder into your wp-content/themes directory.”

I haven’t a clue where the wp-content/themes directory is or how to upload to that.

Also, I just want a very simple design – a layout that makes for easy reading of the text, without bells and whistles… like the Default themes – not like the other themes I’ve seen.
