removing recent posts

Hi All
Im running latest version of twenty 11 and im trying to remove the recents posts on my site,
I like the look of the showcase template as it gives a bit more width.
I have tried suggestions from others on the forums/googled it but as such having no luck
Im trying to showcase a gallery on the site, i have a few but one of the pages is this this one

Is there a way to remove this,
