Support » Themes and Templates » removing <li> from menu items in classic themes

  • hello, I am currently using the Classic theme and in the menu bar, I see that my “category” items are included using <?php _e(‘Categories’); ?> to show the items.

I would like to modify these items so that they do not have
around them, so they do not have indents. I’ve already used CSS to get rid of the indents but it seems that IE does not eliminate the indent.

does anyone know where I can go to edit these items?

thanks. I hope I am understandable.

  • Actually, that’s only the title/header of the list. This is the template tag that displays your categories:
    (or something sinilar from here:

    Read the parameters section!

No, sorry for not being clear but I want to modify the items in the category, not the category header:

    # Item <— I want to edit these
    # Item
    # Item

right now, I put this in my css:
    li { list-style: none;}

Firefox shows the items without an indent, while IE does an indent. I would like to modify the tags surrounding “Item” so there is no indent.

right now, the items are showing up because of the <?php wp_list_cats(''); ?> tag but I have no idea how to modify the code surrounding the items under each category.

hopefully someone can show me the way, thanks in advance

When I started to learn how to tweak themes… I downloaded 3-4-10 themes and looked at the code.
Adjusting the “indent” for lists – usually means playing with margin/padding values.

Thank you. I did some research and removed it via css padding/margin.
