BlueHost is my webspace provider, but their technicians have not been able to help me successfully remove the “Leave a Reply” box on my posts and pages. I’ve tried various things. As a result, my one post has the “Leave a Reply” text, but no box. At least I got rid of the box, but do not need the text, it serves no purpose. Some of my pages have as a footer the “Leave a Reply” text AND a box. Others have only the “Leave a Reply” text. In my settings area in Dashboard, under Discussions, in order to stop the spam (thousands of spams a day) I have made it impossible to leave comments without signing into WordPress, but cannot get rid of the “Leave a Reply” text or boxes. PLEASE help me.

    The site’s URL is: http://www.theperegrinemuse.com/PoetsInternational/

  • have you checked and un-ticked:
dashboard – settings – discussion – Allow people to post comments on new articles
(this will only have effect on posts/pages created after the changes)

    also:
dashboard – pages – all pages – quick-edit below the page title – un-tick ‘allow comments’

    (same for posts)

Thank you alchymyth, I had done all of the above which did not at all affect/solve the problem. I don’t believe the problem can be solved in Dashboard. I think it will be necessary to go into File Manager on BlueHost and do something there, but not even the BlueHost technicians (who are very good) know what to do.

P.S.. – one BlueHost technician (“Justin”) at one point made a code change in a WordPress (comments) file on BlueHost in my File Manager, and it took away the boxes on the pages and on the post but not the “Leave a Reply” text. His correction did not last long, though, because somehow, “automatically” my WordPress site changed back with the original problem, this time with inconsistencies – and my Dashboard had some new formatting. Nothing I did, nothing BlueHost did. The version I was using may have updated at the same time. Justin was the only technician able to do anything and I haven’t been able to track him down since. Even if I did, I still need to get rid of the “Leave a Reply” text and I need to know how to prevent the automatic changes from happening — or — how to keep correcting my site to what I need and want, which is freedom from “Leave a Reply” text and boxes on my pages and posts. (Thank you for help!)

P.S. – I see now that two of the pages do not have either a box or a “Leave a Reply” text.

    They are these two pages:

    http://www.theperegrinemuse.com/PoetsInternational/richard-provencher/

    http://www.theperegrinemuse.com/PoetsInternational/uzeyir-lokman-cayci/

This is how I would like all of the pages to look — no box, no “Leave a Reply” text.
