Support » Fixing WordPress » Removing Footer Space

  • Hello!!
    I am having difficulty with decreasing the amount of empty space in the footer. I’d like to remove the space between the social media icons, terms, copyright, and powered by WordPress.

    Thanks everyone!

    Please provide a link to a page on your site where we can see this. Thanks.

    Hey @driftlessfishers

    you can remove the space by adding below CSS to your style.css file.

    https://www.driftlessfishers.com/wp-content/themes/twentyseventeen/style.css

    .site-footer section.widget {
        padding-bottom: 10px;
    }

    .site-footer .widget-area {
        padding-bottom: 0em;
        padding-top: 2em;
    }

    Thanks,
    Chetan

    Do not edit your theme’s CSS file as those changes will be lost when the them updates.

    To add CSS:

    • If you are using WordPress 4.7, use the “Additional CSS” option in the customizer.
    • If your theme has a custom CSS option, use that to add the CSS shown above.
    • If not, install the plugin Simple Custom CSS.

    Learn to use the Chrome Developer Tools to help you see and test changes to your CSS.

    Thank you very much for the help! The changes are perfect!
