Removing comments boxes

    Hi there,
    I’m using a theme called Beardsley, which I really like. However, I’d like to take off the Comments boxes, both on the Home page and the other pages, to give it a more professional website feel rather than a blog feel. My web address is http://www.gwendolyntarot.com – are you able to help? Thanks, Gwendolyn.

  • When you say comment boxes. You want to remove all references to comments on static pages ?

    Hi there, yes I’d like to remove all of the comments boxes and the references to comments, and the ability to comment on the pages/posts at all. Is that possible?

    Open up the template file comments.php and delete the comment function entirely.

    Thanks for that. Sorry to sound stupid, but so do I go to Appearance, Editor, then click comments.php under Templates, which takes me to that section of code…after this point I’m not sure what to delete as it says all this stuff that says ‘do not delete this section’ and so on. Am I supposed to delete everything in that box anyway?

    Alternative approach:
    Edit the single.php and page.php template files (if they exist in your theme) and remove <?php comments_template();?>.

    Next, edit index.php, archive.php, tag.php, category.php and/or loop.php. Remove <?php comments_popup_link();?>.

    Thank you so much!!! That’s worked perfectly!! Can I ask one more question – on my homepage, it’s got the date that I first created the page at the top of the post (www.gwendolyntarot.com). Are you able to tell me where I could go to delete that? Again, thanks heaps!!

    Try looking for (and removing) <?php the_date();?> and/or <?php the_time();?> in either home.php, front-page.php or page.php. Again the exact template file used for the static front page of a site varies from theme to theme.

    Hi Guys, i am having a similar issue, i have a static page with a comment box at the bottom of my page, i want to keep the comments box on the other pages but remove the comments box from the static page. Could you please show me how to do this, i tried the above but it removed the entire comments field on all pages. I would like to have it removed from the static page only, any help greatly appriciated. Thanks
