Removing bullet images?

Hi, my theme has custom LI bullet images which are showing up before each of the buttons. Is there a way to hide that? I tried changing the custom style to:

.wpbuttons li{list-style: none; margin-right:20px;}

But that didn’t do the trick. Thanks in advance!
