Removing Absolute URLs from WP

I noticed a (closed) discussion on this site, started by someone asking to remove absolute links from WordPress.

As it happens I recently wrote a script that does just this and more (for example, enabling advanced caching with rewritemaps). You can find this script on GitHub.
