Remove unwanted sidebar

So I’m trying to find out how to remove the sidebar. I’ve eliminated all side-widgets, but GeneratePress creates 2 “example widgets”.
I’ve had to add the:
<!– Begin Comment
End Comment –>
on sidebar.php, which I don’t like because future updates on the theme will not work.
Here goes the first question. How can I delete that without touching the code?

Also, after having a blank on the right side, which is what I wanted, I realize that the main page, has a displacement (a little) to the left, as if even there is no widget, the theme thinks as is there was one, and instead of having all centered, its to the left.
