[resolved] remove theme from course, not from main site? (4 posts)

I have just installed Namaste on a domain that I own, but which has an unusual WordPress theme (a video portfolio site) that I don't want to change. However, I don't want this theme to be carried over to my courses because it doesn't make any sense. Is there a way I can make the courses appear with a different theme, or with no theme at all?

    Thanks!

OK, I'm not a developer so this was very confusing. I duplicated the archive.php and single.php files and renamed the 2nd ones archive-namaste_course.php and single-namaste_course.php and they're now showing up as template options within my main theme in wordpress. But I don't understand the code to edit the theme. Do I just erase everything that's there and that will make the courses have some basic theme? Or do I have to find some other theme that I like and paste their archive.php and single.php code into the new namaste_course ones?

    Sorry! Thanks!

I'm still confused about this and haven't been able to find a solution. I duplicated the files as described, but they show up as the same theme as my main site. If I delete the code that's there, it shows up as blank. If I copy someone else's php code, nothing happens. How do I get it to show up with some other sort of basic theme that's not the main one?

    Thanks!
