Generically speaking, you can’t remove someone else’s copyright.

More specifically, what are you referring to? Do you have a link so we can see what you’re talking about?

no i building a site for a client in local, and he asked me if he can remove the copyright in the footer, and how much it cost (only the thing: “powered by wordpress”). no one asked me something like this before so i don’t really know what to do.

EDIT: the site that i’m building is for an italian TV and for example, an other tv, this one: http://www.realtimetv.it/, built their site with wordpress and they removed the copyright in the footer.

That explains it. Which theme are you planning on using? And have you created a child theme?

Usually editing a copy of the theme’s footer.php file in your child theme directory is all that is required. But some themes are a little more complicated (Twenty Eleven’s footer for example).

i’m building the theme by myself so it’s mine. i know that i can remove it by editing the footer.php but i wanna know if it comport any legal problems.

No – none whatsoever on your own theme.
