Support » Plugin: AddToAny Share Buttons » app_id ” removes images from FB shared post

  • The following code half works, but the images are excluded in the FB share post.

    a2a_config.templates.facebook = {
        app_id: ''
    };

    Is there any way that the plugin can work as intended but without the “AddToAny” text? Ideally with my own brand text replacing “AddToAny” text?

    No, an empty app_id doesn’t remove preview images; it’s just a way AddToAny lets you use Facebook’s old “app”-less sharing endpoint. Parameters are different, and some features absent, but Facebook still shows preview images via its old endpoint. See the FAQ on Facebook sharing for insight and help troubleshooting your site’s issue with preview images.

    Ideally with my own brand text replacing “AddToAny” text?

    Facebook forces the “app” attribution for its current sharing endpoint. It’s possible to create your own Facebook “app” for your site, then you can set the app’s ID using AddToAny Templates to change the Facebook attribution.

    It previews the image just fine, but when shared it won’t share the correct image.

    Are you saying I have to manually create meta tags for this to work?

    Issues with Facebook sharing are between your site and Facebook, not AddToAny. As the FAQ says, use a plugin (or theme) to manage your meta tags.

    This is obviously an issue with your plugin.

    My choices are either Let your Webpage show in every post. Or use app_id ” and have a plugin that does not parse images through to facebook.

    Its an issue with your plugin not facebook or my site.

    You think I downloaded and installed and wasted my time with your plugin just to blame Facebook. No sir, its your issue. Facebook and my website work fine.

    You are obviously trying to push for free publicity by not giving good instructions on how to get rid of your brand on the posts to facebook.

    I will download a much simpler plugin that actually works or code it myself.

    Thanks anyway.

    You’re welcome. Your claims are inaccurate though, as you’d find by searching the forum, or providing details and linking to your site.

    I did search the forum and you never completely bring a solution to this specific issue.

    I think you know exactly what I am talking about but decide to not help. And that is okay.
