    Hello,

in yoast I have the sitemaps
    https://www……de/post-sitemap.xml
    https://www…..de/page-sitemap.xml
    https://www…..de/portfolio-category-sitemap.xml

    listed.

Ladder was created by United Themes “Brooklyn” automatically.

I want do keep the posts and the portfolio itself, however I don´t want it to be listed in the sitemap (because it´s not officially on my website)

How can I get rid of this xmls without changing every post and portfolio categorie to “don´t show in search results”?
Also – even if I do that (tried it with the portfolio) it only removes the subfolders, not the post-sitemap.xml or portfolio-category-sitemap.xml itself.

    How can I archieve this?

Removing the author xml worked with this turorial: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-exclude-author-pages-from-sitemap/ but I didn´t find how to solve the rest.

    Thanks in advance!
    Jan

sorry, but just want to give that a push because I´m sure somebody knows an answer to that.

You can customize the sitemap index with the steps here. It seems that portfolio-category is custom taxonomy. Please try to find it under Taxonomies ( SEO -> Search Appearance ).

    Perfect, that did it Saša!

So, maybe can you help me out with info on two more little things?

Which sitemaps should I submit to google? is it only sitemap_index.xml or also post-sitemap.xml and page-sitemap.xml?

and, given I change something on Post No. 5 (or PAGE No. 12883 😉 ), do I have to ping the entire sitemap_index.xml oder only the post-sitemap.xml?

You should submit only sitemap index (sitemap_index.xml) – https://kb.yoast.com/kb/submit-sitemap-search-engines/.

Googlebot will read all sub sitemaps from sitemap index. From other side, Yoast SEO will “ping google” (sitemap_index.xml) when some post/page is changed. So, you don’t need additional manual actions.
