How hard can this be?! I’ve spent over five hours on this, attempting to do nothing more than suppress the (apparently auto-generated) links on the navigation menu for “Pages” and “Categories”. Firebug shows me that the menu is generated with <div id=”nav> and <ul class=”sf-menu”> – well, it is when using the Suffusion theme that I’m trying to get right although I don’t believe my problem is theme-related. In the thousands of Suffusion options there is an option to remove the “Home” link from that menu, and to swap the positions of “Pages” and “Categories”, but it seems that it is completely totally impossible to just not have the damn links display, and after spending hours and hours trying to solve it I’m on the verge of throwing the monitor out the window with frustration!

  • You can suppress the pages/categories from the menu by going to :
    – Suffusion settings
    – Blog Features

Then select Main Navigation Bar Setup, go to the bottom of the page where there is a setting for Pages in Navigation Bar – All or Selected – then select the Exclude all, ignoring next option radio button.
Then go to the settings for Category listing style in Navigation Bar and select the radio button for Exclude all, ignoring next option as well. Remember to save your settings then the pages and categories will be suppressed from the menu. Probably better to use the WP3.0 Navigation Menus as they are very flexible, there is a section further down for those as well.

Thankyou very much indeed – I’d spent so long looking for it that I’d just got blind to it. [Solved]

Thanks jamespiggot. The only thing is that I have no “save changes” buttons on any of my pages. I thought that they must be “hidden” somwher but, there are no save buttons on ANY of my settings pages. What’s the deal? I set up all the settings and they all just return to the default settings. I can’t even get a two column setup on my website like I had before upgrading. Anyone can help with this?!?

    Hi Kenji,

The Save button is actually a pop-up floating window that floats over the WordPress dashboard using Javascript. It may be you are suppressing pop-ups or that trying a different browser may help. Or are you allowing javascript, that may be more likely the culprit as it does not appear to be a separate browser window.

The window appears correctly in FireFox for me and I didn’t have to change any settings to achieve this.

    Cheers,
    James

    HI James,

I’m using Firefox also and javascript is enabled. Popup windows are not blocked and I still have no ‘floating save window” or any other save buttons. I tried it with IE7 and it’s the same thing. I’ve tried working with all the settings on Firefox that I thought might be causing the problem, but, to no avail. I finally went back to the older version, 3.6.6 but, I’d still like to find out what the problem is as I have 3 other blogs that also use Suffusion.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions and help James. Cheers

    Hi Kenji,

It may have something to do with screen resolution, that is the save box is being displayed off to the right of your screen, have a look at this link http://www.aquoid.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2679&p=12184#p12184 as other people seem to have experie3nced the same problem.

    All the best,
    James

    Kenji,
As I wrote in response to your post on the support forum, this has been adjusted about a month back, so you shouldn’t see this happening in the latest release.

    Sayontan.

Thanks again Jamespiggot. I’ll keep that in mind and give it a try adjusting the margins.

Sayontan – I just installed the last release the day before yesterday so, apparently the French version that I use and that I installed has not been changed or resolved. Could this be the case that it hasn’t been changed in the French version? Thanks for responding, the both of you.

    Cordially,

    Kenji (Kenem)

Could this be the case that it hasn’t been changed in the French version?

No, there is no separate version for French. You might want to try clearing out your cache.

    Sayontan,

I don’t seem to be able to find the option in your Siffusion WordPress Theme to have a navigation-menu in a row beneath my header. There’s nothing there. Can you help?

See this thread: http://aquoid.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=748. It is somewhat old, but still relevant.
