Hi Mike,
That answer you linked to only seems to apply to color overlays on featured images, and my default page template doesn’t even include a featured image.
In my case it’s happening to images used when a “Category” is called up: https://www.adrienneteicher.com/category/news/ or images pasted in a post, for instance the image block at the bottom of this page: https://www.adrienneteicher.com/home/
For some reason, images displayed by the “Media + Text” block are not effected.
Thanks for your help.
To be honest, I went to view your site and my AntiVirus alerted your site, so I didn’t actually see your site (and won’t). Sorry can’t help more.
Hi Mike,
I think your antivirus is giving a false positive. Every malware scanner I test reports it as clean. For example
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/url/6ffa21183d70ce84516bf9c7ce9c7515bc020b001e9c680923f33661033f68ec?nocache=1
ok, so I gave up and just reset the theme. One of the pre-determined “styles” you can select has this image overlay setting hidden somewhere inside – i could never find it but if someone knows i would still love to understand this.
workaround for now: avoid the in-built “styles” that use overlays.
Hi @freudianslit – do you remember which style variation you used that added overlays on the Image block? I’ve only found overlays on the Featured Image block so far, not the Image block, but if you can let me know which style variation caused this, I’d be glad to try to replicate it and see if there’s a way to turn off the overlay. Thanks!
Hello, the fix is:
Appearance > Themes> Customise.
Left hand menu in the editor > Templates
Single Post> select the Featured Image placeholder and set the Overlay Opacity in the right hand panel to zero.
Thanks, @gazgiant – that solution was offered three months ago, but this user was having trouble removing the overlay from regular image blocks, not the featured image. 🙂 Some of the style variations include overlays on image blocks that don’t come with a toggle to turn them off.
