 * Ok, sure Media element js included in WordPress core was great for a while and
in most cases I guess it works. However, I have been fighting with this stupid
thing for more than a year and no matter what I do, every time I use HTML 5 audio
tags mediaelement keeps screwing it up. Yes, I know there are shortcodes but
guess what, they don’t work with streaming audio, ie shoutcast and icecast. There’s
a place in WordPress where I can turn on snow so why isn’t there a way to check
a box to disable media element. I’ve tried several de-enque methods but the dam
thing is in there so hard that it just never seems to want to leave. There are
also other solutions out there now that work much better. (Jplayer for one) It
just seems like it’s time to re-think the way wordpress handles audio. Even the
playlist feature doesn’t work right. Before you get all “it’s the theme” I’ve
experimented with all the default wordpress themes, as well as many others and
   still have the same issue.
If you didn’t feel it, I’m writing this with restrained
frustration and a little bit of anger. I LIKE modifying things to do what I want
them to do but that doesn’t work if wordpress insists on over writing everything
I’m trying to make. Like I said, for some reason de-enquing hasn’t worked. So
PLEASE give me a way to get that stupid media element out of there. Personally
I think it was a bad decision to begin with.

 * Can you be specific about what you want to remove exactly and what you’ve tried?
 * A checkbox won’t happen but just about everything can be queued or dequeued via
a plugin. If you can point to the specific files that are being loaded then perhaps
someone can suggest a solution for your problem.
