Remove item on click on active “add to cart” button (instead of checkout)

By default, when you click on a “add to cart” button, the button turns into a “checkout” button.
I’d like it to turn into a “remove” button.

In other words, a second click on an active “add to cart” button should remove the item from the cart.

Ideally, without reloading the page.

Can I do that?
