 * I see blogs with address as [http://www.mydomain.com/archives/april/2006](http://www.mydomain.com/archives/april/2006)
 * But whenever I try to use permalinks, I get [http://www.mydomain.com/index.php/april/2006](http://www.mydomain.com/index.php/april/2006)
 * How can I remove /index.php/ from path?
 * Even options for permalinks use /index.php/
 * [http://www.domain.com/index.php/2006/04/09/sample-post/](http://www.domain.com/index.php/2006/04/09/sample-post/)

   [http://www.domain.co,/index.php/archives/123](http://www.domain.co,/index.php/archives/123)
 * HELP ME! I want to have my path without /index.php/, as I see on many blogs.

 * I have this as a custom setup:
    /archives/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/
 * That work for you?

 * No. It is because I am on IIS, not on Apache? I really need to get rid of /index.
   php/ in path! Please…

 * Without the /index.php/ in your path, WP is going to rely on mod_rewrite and
   the .htaccess file. This is a Apache feature and as such it wouldn’t work for
   you.
 * So unless you switch over to Apache, you’re stuck with index.php in your permalink.

 * Thanks, Cypher. You confirmed my suspicions. Uh… So, it’s final? Do anyone know
   any solution for IIS? I read about some IIS url replacer tool, but I could not
   solve my problem with it. Anyone confront this problem and have a solution for
   IIS?
 * Thanks.

 * Ringmaster has a Codex doc on WordPress in IIS, where this topic is covered:
