    or, just copy and paste this one into yours
    http://pastebin.com/AXrPXUeD

    be sure to use the "raw paste" otherwise you'll get the line numbers.

    I'll know if you are using it because the name of the category will no longer appear on each post, just at the bottom of the slider.

    it looks like your loop-slider.php is not doing what it should either, it's still getting the post titles and a category name for each post.
    Replace loop-slider.php with

    http://pastebin.com/55zMi22D

    just change the post id's..

    your loop-category is correct, it's getting the right slider. I suppose this could have to do with your duplicate files..?
    did you resolve that?

    i think i just messed up my loop-slider-catagoies.... can you put that in paste bin?

    but i swear I have pasted in what you have sent for the catagories.php and the loop-slider.php

    And now that I have uploaded the loop-slider-catagories.php with the file manager, it all looks good (no duplicates)

    or, loop-slider-categories is not correct, make sure it's the loop-slider.php that comes with the theme.

    it's the same problem, your category.php is not getting the right slider.. even though I saw the code and it was correct!
    are you still using it? man I wish I could post it right here, I think I will, but moderators will remove it so copy it asap

    <?php
    /**
     * Template for category archives
     *
     * @package WordPress
     * @subpackage Minimatica
     * @since Minimatica 1.0
     */

    get_header(); ?>
    <?php if( ( 'gallery' == minimatica_get_option( 'category_view' ) ) && ( get_query_var( 'cat' ) != minimatica_get_option( 'blog_category' ) ) ) : ?>

    <?/* this is the default code:
    <div id="slider">
    		<?php get_template_part( 'loop', 'slider' ); ?>
    	</div><!-- #slider -->

    */?>

    <?/* this is the mod */?>

    <div id="slider">
    		<?php get_template_part( 'loop-slider-categories' ); ?>
    	</div><!-- #slider -->

    <?php else : ?>
     	<div class="title-container">
    		<h1 class="page-title"><?php single_cat_title(); ?></h1>
    	</div><!-- .title-container -->
    	<div id="container">
    		<?php get_template_part( 'loop', 'category' ); ?>
    		<?php get_sidebar(); ?>
    		<div class="clear"></div>
    	</div><!-- #container -->
    <?php endif; ?>
    <?php get_footer(); ?>

    replace your category.php with the above.

    Thank you so much for your help :-)

    I previously removed the the side menu and comment etc (although not in the correct fashion) I didn't want any side menu or comments at all, so I just emptied the whole php file

    :s

    I also changed the gallery to display a row of 4 images rather than 3 at some point, but I am not sure if I will need that now.

    Also, very important that you remember which template files to preserve when you update minimatica

    category.php
    loop-slider.php
    loop-slider-catgegories.php

    and, all your custom css..

    Yes, I am saving them in a special folder :)

    I have changed the order of my posts so everything is where is should be, so now its just about removing the things I don't need and tweeking the site a little.

    I wont't have much time to look at it tomorrow, but maybe in the evening.

    I have not even looked at your information on changing the number of posts on each slider, so I am going to do that (although I think 4 is ok for what I need now, I would like to know in case things change). I also want to look at how you removed the menu from the home page.

    Thanks again :o)

    yes, take a look at my previous posts, most are accurate, I hope!
    post any issues, I'll be glad to help This is great review for a theme I love and intend to use more.

    Also, I think this is already the case, but try to understand the basics of what we did.

    don't be fooled by the length of our thread.. it's really very simple. just hard to communicate.

    We changed the code in the slider template, so instead of getting all posts in all categories, it only gets the posts we define.

    then, we made it so those posts link to their categories, instead of post content. We also made the featured image hover overlay get the name of the catgeory, and not the name of the post.

    Since the category archive is also using the slider (a case where one template uses part of another), we needed a new slider that behaved as normal, so the post excerpts/featured images in the category archive slider would link to their content.

    Finally, we added code at the bottom of loop-slider-categories.php to show the name of the category. This was done "outside the loop" ..meaning basically that it doesn't apply to each post, just one instance on the category page itself.

    that's all we did!

    Okay, I harvested this stuff, should save you some time and possible mistakes

    add to css to remove menu from home page:

    .home #access {
    display:none;
    }

    set number of posts in slider, look for the follwing code in functions.php and change the number for post_per_page:

    function minimatica_paged_posts( $query ) {
    	if( (
    		( $query->is_home() && 'gallery' == minimatica_get_option( 'homepage_view' ) ) ||
    		( $query->is_category() && 'gallery' == minimatica_get_option( 'category_view' ) ) ||
    		( $query->is_tag() && 'gallery' == minimatica_get_option( 'tag_view' ) ) ||
    		( $query->is_author() && 'gallery' == minimatica_get_option( 'author_view' ) ) ||
    		( $query->is_archive() && 'gallery' == minimatica_get_option( 'archive_view' ) )
    		) && ( ! is_single() )
    	)
    		$query->set( 'posts_per_page', '4' );
    }
    endif;

    in css, change the size of the slides:

    .kwicks .slide {
    width:140px;
    }

    do it depending on what category it is:

    .category-uncategorized .kwicks .slide {
    width:140px;
    }

    .category-category-3 .kwicks .slide {
    width:320px;
    }

    but of course, adjust it for your own number of slider-posts per category.

    I forgot to explain, when you have 2 posts in the slider, or more than 5, you'll have issues with how the slides display, so you'll need to adjust the slide widths accordingly.

    If all your categories have at least 3 posts, you won't have to adjust as I just described.

    If you want to show more than 5 posts in the slider, you will have to change the number in functions.php, and make the slides smaller in css.

    hope that's clear..

    by the way, that's some nice formatting with the featured images and post images. I like how you have the text as part of the image.
    Also very cool how you made the featured images fit the collapsed slides so the text is centered.
    But, that may be a problem if you mess with the size of the slides!

    anticipating that you will want more categories at some point..

    You could add that same text as part of a custom post excerpt which would only appear on hover.

    Since your post content text is part of an image, we would also have to make it so the excerpt text doesn't appear as part of the post content, we'd only need it for the slider.

    Just something to consider if you need to show more categories/change your slide sizes, ..and dont want to make a bunch of new images!

    remove comments

    #respond {
     display: none;

    }

    remove the sidebar

    #sidebar {

        display: none;
    }

    center the post (and page) content without the sidebar (optional)

    #content {

      margin: 0 320px 20px;

    }

    remove the overlay

    .overlay
    {
    display:none
    }

    almsot forgot, enrty meta which includes author name, date, and category

    .entry-meta
    {
    display:none;
    }

    Hey there,

    So sorry I went missing, I have been laid up ill for a few weeks after Christmas. I am only just getting back to things. I will review your posts and get back on with it just as soon as I can. I have my birthday this weekend and its a big one.

    I have decided that for now I am quite happy with four posts per slider so I just need to work on removing the extra unwanted text that is still appearing in the top left corner of the posts and also the text that appears to the bottom left of each catagory slider.

    In your last post above, I am not sure if this is what you are refering to????

    I was with you up until then.

    I am not sure why this would be, but on one of my computers the word 'Portfolio' on the header looks like its in BOLD font, but only on the home page. On my other computer it looks just fine, and they have the same browser (very odd)

    :)

    Text also looks bold on this page

    but only on one of the computers.

    Everything looks as I would expect, the entry titles are uppercase by default with the theme.

    I just need to work on removing the extra unwanted text that is still appearing in the top left corner of the posts and also the text that appears to the bottom left of each catagory slider

    as posted above, this one should remove the overlay for post excerpts in the slider:

    .overlay
    {
    display:none
    }

    not sure what you mean with

    text that is still appearing in the top left corner of the posts.

    But the category link at the bottom is a snippet I added at the bottom of the catgegory template, you can remove it, not part of the theme.
