Support » Plugin: Genesis eNews Extended » Remove First & Last Name Fields

The demo of the StudioPress theme ‘Business Pro’ uses the genesis enews extended and only shows the email field to collect information from the visitor. However when I set it up, I by default have First, Last, and Email fields. I couldn’t find any documentation (except for changelogs where the fields were added) that address a situation where someone doesn’t want First and Last name fields. I found lots of information to edit the look using CSS, but couldn’t even find anyone else asking the question. It would be great to have ways to add or subtract fields, but I’ll settle with just getting it to look like it does in the Demo – I know its a non-profit project, so any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

As a point of interest for why I’m wanting this, the default theme layout basically has two forms on it, the first is right before the header. The action button in that section takes the visitor to a form page to collect more detailed sales information. The footer is setup to collect a contact information for someone that either isn’t yet ready to buy, doesn’t want to be directly called on sales, or just wants to keep in touch. I feel that asking for first and last (even if not required) might discourage a visitor to submit it.

  • When you set up the widget in your sidebar (or other location), remove any text from the First Name Input Text: and Last Name Input Text: fields. They will then NOT populate on the front end.

Hi there. I have just followed this advice to remove the Last Name Input Text fields and unfortunately when I click SAVE on the widget, it automatically refills in the Last Name Input Text Field.

Does anyone know how to get this plugin to save WITHOUT repopulating the Last Name Input Text field on its own?

Were you able to figure this out? I’m having trouble with the same thing plus it adds the text, not the info line for name, email, etc.
